Maria Kanguro's Vet

Maria was born and raised in Miami, Florida. She has always had a passion for animals and knew that working with them would be her future career. She pursued veterinary assisting during her years in high school via their veterinary program, working with both small and large animals, but grew an affinity for small domestic animals. She later graduated from her university with a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Biology and a minor in Natural Applied Sciences.

Throughout her years in veterinary medicine, Maria has worked all the roles you would find in a veterinary office: volunteer, receptionist, kennel technician, veterinary assistant, to now a veterinary nurse. She loves the hands-on work that comes from being a nurse, as she loved to be there for the patients from the moment they come through the door to the moment they leave with their owner. Nothing makes her happier than seeing a sick fur baby acting like their normal selves once they feel better!

Maria has been in the field for about eight years, having gained experience in both general practice and emergency. Although Maria is well-versed in many things ‘vetmed,’ she specifically shows interests in emergency medicine, surgery, and internal medicine.

Outside of the veterinary field, Maria loves to spend her days outdoors with her two dogs Sky and Sage. They do everything together: hiking, kayaking, camping, swimming, and playing soccer. Maria also enjoys cooking delicious plant-based meals, watching movies, and practicing her yoga!
